AC current sensor explanation4(The range to use with linearity · accuracy and Contiuous maximum current)

The range to use with linearity · accuracy [Example of the test with CTL-12-S56-10]

·The result of measurement with RL=10.1 Ω to be 1V/100A is [Table.3] .
It gains the linearity and accuracy within +/-0.3% FS at the wide current range of 0.01 - 100A (1 : 10000)
·Although the ratio error (%RE) seems to be big at the small current, it is regarded almost within the range of the measurement error, because of too small measured current.
·The temperature characteristics become better, if the load resistor is smaller.

Continuous maximum current

It is the defined as the penetrated current when the self heating by the secondary current of CT and internal resistance of the coil is considered. Thus, it is different from the primary current range to show the measurement range.

To protect the electrical circuit against the continuous high current or the instantaneous peak current, thee clamp device for the peak voltage should be connected at the output side in parallel as showing at [Figure.13] . Also, please consider about the heating to select the load resistor.

Saturation limited current

It is defined as the maximum current to get the good linearity without the saturation of the core at the load resistor 1Ω of the secondary side of CT. If the current is intermittent, it can be used until this limited current, when the rms value of it is not beyond the continuous maximum current.
